Services for Expectant Mothers
Because we are very concerned with the well-being of the mother throughout all stages of pregnancy, we are pleased to have two Certified Massage Therapists available who've been trained in advanced "Nurturing the Mother" techniques, including Fertility, Prenatal, Labor/Delivery, Postpartum & Infant/Toddler Massage.

Our Nurturing the Mother Specialists Jill John & Maria Katsimpalis can discuss your specific goals for the treatment before your first massage.  That way the therapist can focus on getting the tension out of specific muscles and elevating your sense of relaxation.

We also offer Baby Belly Imprints and Acupuncture for infertility.

Prenatal Massage~
60-Min/$85, 75-Min/$95 or 90-Min/$105

Pregnancy places strong demands on a woman's body, making it an ideal time for her to be cared for and pampered.  This gentle technique, given as the expectant mother rests in a side-lying position, is designed to relieve tension & aches from the extra weight and shift in the center of gravity, reduce swelling, soothe the nervous system, lessen fatigue & even enhance energy.  Circulation is also improved, aiding the supply of vital nutrients and oxygenated blood to both mommy and child.  These benefits provide comfort and well-being for mom & baby-on-the way. Not recommended during the 1st trimester.

After the first trimester, a series of Prenatal Massage sessions are recommended every 2-4 weeks so that the cumulative effects have a chance to take hold & become more profound.  For an appreciative momma-to-be, the chance to be pampered with nurturing touch makes this one "mother" of a massage!  Service provided by Jill John, Maria Katsimpalis

PS--To expand the nurturing experience even further you may want to consider adding a Cocoa Butter Belly Rub!

Cocoa Butter Belly Rub ~
$15

This service is ideal for ladies who desire to take the nurturing to the next level during a Prenatal Massage session.  It can benefit clients with PMS cramping, IBS or other abdominal issues.  This soothing stomach massage incorporates rhythmic kneading & soft circular strokes, along with your choice of Cocoa Butter Cream, Body Butter or scented essential oils.  Many women believe that regular use of Cocoa Butter minimizes the appearance of stretch-marks on their torso, plus it feels incredibly soothing when applied through gentle massage.

Fertility Massage

60-Min/$85, 75-Min/$95 or 90-Min/$105
In some cases infertility has been linked to high stress levels, which is an area where Therapeutic Massage can be of benefit.  Many couples trying to conceive go through several different rituals that can indirectly cause elevated stress levels.

Regular Therapeutic Fertility Massage treatments can significantly reduce stress levels and increase relaxation.  So when investigating Massage Therapy treatments, you can focus on reducing tension, increasing relaxation and decreasing stress.

Our Fertility Massage sessions are made up of a combination of techniques designed to bring about a highly relaxed state, which is often conducive to conception-- techniques include CranioSacral holds to balance the body's energy meridians and mind/body connection, stimulation of the foot Reflexology acupressure points related to the reproductive organs, gentle abdominal massage and hip stretches & the use of aromatherapy heat packs to relax the tummy & pelvis muscles.

Acupuncture Treatments for Infertility
by Lei Shaw, Licensed Acupuncturist
60-Minute Acupuncture Sessions/$125
(Save $25 off your first session!)

On its own, acupuncture can be seen as an alternative way of treating fertility problems. It is also used as a complementary therapy to modern fertility treatments. When used alone, though, acupuncture is probably most effective for those couples who are experiencing a functional problem, like irregular ovulation, rather than a structural problem, like a blockage in the sperm ducts. Some practitioners will also recommend Chinese herbs for infertility that will supplement the acupuncture and any other treatment you may be receiving. If you take herbs while receiving other medical treatments, be sure to tell your doctor. Some herbs can interfere with the function of fertility drugs and procedures.

Most practicing acupuncturists say that acupuncture helps by regulating your body’s system. This aids in blood flow to the reproductive organs and stabilizes hormone levels. This in turn will increase ovarian function in women as well as sperm production in men.

Used as a complementary form of therapy for women undergoing other fertility treatments, acupuncture has been proven to be especially beneficial. Some believe that acupuncture works by helping women stay more relaxed through stressful fertility treatments. In particular, studies have shown that acupuncture definitely increases the rate of pregnancy in women undergoing in vitro fertilization (IVF).  (Reprinted from http://www.pregnancy-info.net/infertility_acupuncture.html

Postpartum Massage~
60-Min/$85, 75-Min/$95 or 90-Min/$105

Massage Therapy is not only good before childbirth, but also afterwards.  Postpartum Massage focuses on helping to restore the woman's body to its pre-pregnancy condition.  Massage plays an important part in the restoration of the abdominal muscle wall and the uterus to its normal state. It helps realign the body weight to its original distribution and tones the over-stretched areas of skin over the belly.

As with all massages, it relieves muscle tension and stress from everyday activities, especially new mothering duties.  It not only helps restore the physical body to the new mom, but it also helps to revive her emotional state.  The loving touch of hands can provide a time to relax & reflect for the new mother, and helps to get her through the postpartum blues.  When the mother feels good about herself, it is easier to meet the needs of her newborn.

Help ease the pain & anxiety of childbirth with an onsite Labor & Delivery Massage.  For a great article on the benefits of Massage during labor and delivery, please visit this link:

During early labor, Massage is useful for relaxing the mother so that she can save her energy for the later stages of labor, and delivery. It has been shown that the adrenaline that is released during times of stress works against the contraction-inducing hormone . Massage Therapists help a laboring woman to use her body to work for itself, not against it by relaxing her and reducing her stress.

Massage during labor is an excellent method of pain relief, which for some, is preferable to other methods of pain control. Research has shown that women who have Massage during labor don't require pain medications and other medical interventions as often as those who don't receive massage during labor. Your Massage Therapist may also use Massage in conjunction with breathing techniques to help you better cope with the pain of labor and delivery.

During labor, many women experience intense lower back pain. Massage which focuses on the lower back, and counter-pressure are extremely helpful in providing pain relief, allowing the mother to focus on maintaining her composure and ability to utilize breathing techniques.

Many Massage Therapists are also certified to provide Postpartum Massage which can help you return to your pre-pregnancy body more quickly. Postpartum Massage helps to realign the spine, restore the abdomen, soothe sore muscles and relax the new mom. Many doctors and midwives are recommending Prenatal, Labor/Delivery and Postnatal Massage as part of a well-rounded prenatal regimen.  Please call for availability/pricing.  Service provided by:  Maria Katsimpalis, Jill John
